On February 2, Alibaba DingTalk officially launched version 8.2.10, fully upgrading the DingTalk AI group chat feature by equipping every DingTalk group with a dedicated AI assistant—AI Xiaoding. This intelligent assistant, available 24/7 and focused on improving communication and collaboration efficiency, will redefine the team collaboration experience within groups.

As an important step in DingTalk's exploration of new work models in the AI era, AI Xiaoding integrates into groups as a "proactive service-oriented agent." Users simply need to @AI Xiaoding in a newly created "internal group" to query historical messages, manage task progress, adjust group settings, and more through natural language conversations. Existing internal group owners or administrators can also add and configure the "AI Xiaoding" bot in the group settings to easily enable this smart service.

Tackling Two Major Daily Challenges

First, AI Xiaoding can respond instantly to group members' needs, helping them break free from the repetitive labor of sifting through old messages and significantly boosting work efficiency;

In the current phase, AI Xiaoding has launched three practical features:

Personalized Information Hub

Group members can set their own focus topics—for example, "Spring Festival-related arrangements," "Trends in artificial intelligence development," "Commodity market trends," or "Latest breakthroughs in biotechnology"—and AI Xiaoding will integrate content sources from "Discover" to deliver high-value information to the group on a daily basis, helping members stay on top of industry trends.

Smart Group Activity Manager

AI Xiaoding regularly compiles important information within the group, automatically generating daily or weekly summary reports. It intelligently identifies outstanding tasks (such as "forms pending submission" or "feedback required") and sends reminders to the responsible individuals, ensuring that no work is overlooked and all tasks are followed up.

Voice-Based Group Management

Administrators can use spoken commands to complete various group management tasks, including setting up shortcut bars for frequently used apps, changing group names, and batch-setting member roles. For example, typing "@AI Xiaoding, set Zhang San, Li Si, and Wang Wu as project managers" can quickly assign roles to multiple people in a single sentence, eliminating the tedious process of handling each person individually.

During the gray-scale testing period, many DingTalk users have developed diverse use cases for AI Xiaoding, showcasing a new model of human-AI collaboration.
