On the morning of April 3, the “AI Lighthouse Project—2026 Education DingTalk Summit (Yichang Station)” was successfully held in Yichang, Hubei Province. The launch ceremony for the Xiling District Artificial Intelligence Education Research Team and Technology Alliance concluded at the Zhongshan Road Campus of Yichang Experimental Primary School. Hosted by the Xiling District Education Bureau, the event aimed to deepen educational digital transformation and promote the seamless integration of artificial intelligence with teaching practices. Zhang Xiaoling, a member of the bureau’s Party leadership group and its deputy director, representatives from several science and education enterprises, along with research team members from numerous technology alliance schools across the district, attended the ceremony.
During the event, the Xiling District Education Bureau officially established a strategic partnership with the DingTalk team. Moving forward, they will pilot initiatives in areas such as AI-based academic administration, intelligent homework grading, and the application of Wukong Intelligent Agents, providing technical support and system assurance for the region’s smart education development.
Zhou Ping, General Manager of DingTalk Education for Central and Southwest China, delivered a keynote speech, thoroughly analyzing real-world applications of “AI + Education.” She highlighted innovative achievements from Hangzhou’s Yuhang District in building educational models, implementing comprehensive student assessments, managing vision health, advancing teacher professional development, and utilizing AI-assisted grading. She emphasized the Wukong Agent platform, noting how its sandbox security mechanism allows teachers to safely and controllably create personalized AI teaching assistants, enhancing classroom efficiency and individualized instruction capabilities.
Subsequently, representatives from four benchmark schools shared their practical experiences in advancing AI-driven education:
Yichang Experimental Primary School has developed a dual-track educational model combining in-school projects with home-based VR laboratories. Students use AI image recognition technology to create smart identification cards for campus plants, earning over 30 national awards. Tangjiawan Primary and Middle School has implemented an AI-powered classroom behavior analysis system, helping young teachers refine questioning techniques and improve student-teacher interactions. No. 16 Middle School uses “Warmest Home Letters” as a medium, integrating the National Smart Education Platform with the “Green Seedling” intelligent assistant to foster a new ecosystem of collaborative reading and learning among families, schools, and communities. Meanwhile, Yulong Road Primary School guides students to leverage technology in addressing real-life challenges through projects like “Smart Farm” and “Noise Monitoring,” cultivating hands-on skills and critical thinking abilities.
The Xiling District Educational Technology Center also unveiled its key work plan for 2026, outlining six major objectives: promoting universal access to AI literacy courses, deepening the application of the National Smart Education Platform, strengthening collaboration mechanisms within the technology alliance, and more. It specifically urged all schools to prioritize compliant equipment usage, safeguard students’ vision, and ensure safe management of experimental environments, ensuring that technological integration in education aligns with health and ethical considerations.
In her address, Deputy Director Zhang Xiaoling emphasized the importance of balancing infrastructure development with practical application, reducing burdens while elevating quality, and avoiding resource underutilization or superficial implementation. She stressed the need to stay true to the original mission of using technology to enhance teaching and benefit student learning.
At the conclusion of the event, Diao Lixin, head of the Xiling District Educational Technology Center, announced the official establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Education Research Team, presented appointment letters to core members, and publicly released the first list of technology alliance schools, marking a new phase in the region’s smart education collaboration network.
All attendees agreed that this launch represents not only the beginning of technical cooperation but also an opportunity to elevate educational philosophies. In the future, they pledged to jointly build a locally distinctive AI education ecosystem, nurturing innovative talents suited to the digital age and contributing to the modernization of education.
