On March 27, the DingTalk CLI open-source project landed in the Github community, adopting the widely recognized Apache-2.0 license. In the first phase, it releases ten core features: AI Tables, Calendar, Logs, To-Dos, Bots, Contacts, DING messages, Attendance, Open Platform documentation, and Workbench. This tool natively supports mainstream AI programming and Agent execution environments such as Claude Code and Cursor, making it China’s first national-level application to fully open all its product capabilities to AI Agents.

In the current trend of AI development, whether AI Agents can “execute tasks” in real-world business scenarios has become the key to the next stage of technological competition. On March 17, Alibaba launched “Wukong,” the world’s first enterprise-grade AI-native work platform, announcing that DingTalk has completed a comprehensive CLI (Command Line Interface) architecture overhaul, redesigning its code from the ground up for AI and enabling all functions to be directly invoked by AI. Just ten days later, DingTalk officially open-sourced this set of CLI features. Now, developers and AI Agents no longer need to delve into low-level API details—simply enter a single command to quickly activate enterprise-level collaboration features. The project is now live on Github; search for “dingtalk-workspace-cli” to access the resources. Covering complete workflows, supporting commercial use and on-premises deployment
The released features span the main stages of daily enterprise operations: AI Tables can automatically fill, query, and update business data; the Calendar module reads member availability and intelligently schedules meetings; Bots and DING messages support sending structured notifications and high-priority reminders to individuals or groups; the Contacts module helps AI quickly identify relevant decision-makers within the organization; while the To-Dos and Logs modules enable task creation, progress tracking, and the automatic generation and closed-loop management of weekly and daily reports.
All features comply with the Apache-2.0 license, allowing commercial use, code auditing, and supporting enterprises to deploy independently on internal servers and make custom modifications without needing to apply for individual authorizations. This greatly simplifies procurement decision-making and compliance costs, making it especially suitable for organizations that prioritize data privacy and system controllability.
Deeply integrated with mainstream AI tools, centered around an AI-first architecture
From the outset, the DingTalk CLI was designed primarily for AI users, natively compatible with popular AI programming and Agent execution environments like Qoder, Claude Code, and Cursor. Developers only need to complete a one-time initialization setup to directly call DingTalk functions within any CLI-supported Agent framework—no additional SDKs or intermediary layers required—significantly boosting integration flexibility and efficiency.
