On October 31, the Wang Xuan Journalism Science and Technology Award (the "Wang Xuan Award"), the only national cross-media technology award in China's journalism and media industry, was presented in Chengdu. The integrated reporting command platform "People eHome," jointly developed by People's Daily and DingTalk, won the third prize in the project category.

About the Wang Xuan Award

Approved by the National Science and Technology Awards Office, the Wang Xuan Award is a media technology award established in September 2003 by the China Association of Journalists' Technical Workers. It is reviewed every two years. The award aims to encourage journalism technology professionals to develop new technologies and innovative applications, thereby driving transformation in the media industry. In 2025, a total of 605 projects were submitted nationwide, and 182 of them received awards.

"People eHome": An Integrated, Unified Reporting Command Platform

"People eHome" was jointly developed by People's Daily and DingTalk. As the newspaper's core integrated reporting command platform, it integrates systems such as print media editing, new media editing, an intelligent editing assistant, an intelligent office assistant, a full-media database, and an AI editorial department. The platform covers the entire editing and reporting workflow, supports all-terminal compatibility, and provides efficient, convenient, one-stop services.

Currently, "People eHome" has been implemented for nearly all staff at People's Daily. On a daily basis, nearly 1,000 journalists and editors collaborate through the platform, playing a critical role in major reporting events such as the Two Sessions nationwide.

The platform uses its Flash Note feature and collaboration tools to enable rapid recording and text conversion of interview materials. The backend can receive, edit, and publish content simultaneously, significantly improving collaboration efficiency and driving news production toward a community-based model.

"People eHome" has also created mobile applications for news leads, pre-reporting meetings, content submissions, a public manuscript library, a print media manuscript library, and new media editing. These apps allow journalists and editors to complete the entire workflow—planning, interviewing, editing, and reviewing—directly on their mobile phones.

Leveraging large-model technology, "People eHome" has built an AI editing assistant that supports quick retrieval of historical articles, viewing of past layouts, and access to video materials through natural language dialogue. The assistant also offers intelligent features such as hot-topic tracking, lead aggregation, and topic suggestions, helping to efficiently and effectively complete reporting tasks.

People's Daily is continuously collaborating with partners like DingTalk to explore innovative applications of AI and cloud computing in full-media scenarios, fully advancing the digital and intelligent transformation of the news production process.

"People eHome" is not only an editing and reporting hub but also serves as the newspaper's unified communication, office, and management platform. Employees have a single account that enables real-time cross-departmental collaboration, knowledge base building, AI Q&A, online document collaboration, and intelligent meeting minutes, greatly enhancing office efficiency.

The platform integrates dozens of core business systems—such as editing, administration, and finance—through standardized interfaces, enabling "zero-switch" office workflows and improving management fluidity and collaborative effectiveness.

To support global collaboration, the platform integrates a unified global conferencing system, allowing users to initiate cross-regional video conferences with a single click. The headquarters and overseas branches can engage in secure, efficient, face-to-face remote communication, enhancing the immediacy and stability of news command and dispatch.

"People eHome" is a landmark achievement that deeply integrates AI, big data, cloud computing, and media operations. It supports People's Daily in achieving "second-level response" and comprehensively enhances full-media communication effectiveness.

As the official newspaper of the CPC Central Committee, People's Daily is actively using new technologies such as AI to improve operational efficiency and content influence. As a model for integrated transformation, "People eHome" provides a replicable "People's Daily solution" for the industry and is expected to drive the media sector toward a higher level of intelligent development.
