No AI, No Changan

QwenWork News

Recently, Changan Automobile has officially integrated the Qwen Office application into multiple core business processes, including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and customer service, comprehensively driving the company’s intelligent transformation.

As one of China’s three major state-owned automobile enterprises, Changan Automobile is actively embracing the wave of artificial intelligence, adopting the development philosophy of “No AI, No Changan.” Previously, the brand successfully launched innovative products such as the Tianzhu Navigation Intelligent Driving Assistance System and the Tianzhu Cockpit, which have garnered significant industry attention. This year, Changan has further embedded AI technology throughout its organizational structure, permeating all business processes to achieve a comprehensive, end-to-end transformation.

Changan Automobile’s Assistant President and Director of Transformation & Efficiency, Liang Guangzhong, stated: “At Changan, intelligent agents like Qwen Office are not merely tools for enhancing individual productivity; they are the cornerstone of building an AI-native enterprise. They integrate AI capabilities directly into the core workflows of various business functions, driving upgrades and reimagining our entire operational model, making AI an indispensable part of our infrastructure.”

To this end, the company has explicitly required all employees to actively adopt and apply AI tools. Qwen Office has been deeply integrated into frontline work scenarios, generating numerous exemplary innovation cases across the five major areas of R&D, production, supply, sales, and service.

In the R&D domain, electrical system integration testing engineer Mao Haiyun leveraged Qwen Office to independently develop two applications: the “Wire Harness Selection Calculator” and the “Lighting Effect Simulator.” Traditionally, wire harness selection involved manually calculating hundreds of wiring parameters for a single vehicle model, a task that once took senior engineers about two days. Now, by simply uploading a parameter spreadsheet, the system generates results in under five minutes. Meanwhile, the lighting effect simulator allows real-time rendering of light patterns on a 3D vehicle model, replacing the previous reliance on verbal communication or physical demo vehicles. This shift has reduced the time required to reach consensus on design proposals from several weeks to a single meeting.

In manufacturing, quality systems management engineer Guo Ziya, who previously had no programming experience, began self-learning application development through Qwen Office this year. She successfully created a “QR Code to Chinese Translation” tool, resolving a long-standing issue where production line scanning equipment struggled to recognize Chinese characters. The tool is now being rolled out across multiple Changan plants in Hebei Province. Additionally, internal staff developed a miniature program for verifying vehicle documentation, automatically cross-checking dozens of items such as certificates of conformity, COC certificates, and environmental compliance lists. What once required over ten minutes per vehicle can now be completed in just one to two minutes—simply by snapping a photo and uploading it, with the system extracting data, matching regulatory information, and flagging discrepancies.

Gong Xuan, Senior Digital Project Manager at the Global Procurement Platform, regards Qwen Office as an indispensable daily partner, widely utilizing it for data analysis, project inventory, and report writing. She is currently developing automated cost-analysis functionality based on the company’s internal databases, further enhancing decision-making efficiency.

In supply chain management, Zhang Yongze, a 55-year-old packaging manager in the logistics department, taught himself to use Qwen Office. He broke down the original packaging approval process—previously connecting hundreds of suppliers nationwide and covering thousands of parts—into seven to eight automated scripts. These scripts now handle data extraction, progress consolidation, and delay alerts, reducing his workload by more than 90 percent and serving as a prime example of how experience and technology can seamlessly converge.

Turning to sales and customer service, market research typically involves 20,000 to 30,000 pieces of raw user feedback. In the past, categorizing and analyzing this unstructured data required days of manual effort. With Qwen Office, sentiment analysis and topic clustering can now be performed automatically, compressing the analysis cycle to within half a day and providing immediate, precise user insights to inform product design.

Li Qiang, Vice President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group and General Manager of the AI Automotive Industry, remarked: “Looking ahead, industry competition will shift from ‘vehicle-level intelligence’ to ‘enterprise-level intelligence.’ The key differentiator among automakers will no longer be who integrates a particular large-scale model first, but rather who can transform AI into a continuously evolving organizational force. Models will eventually become ubiquitous, and isolated applications are easily replicable, but what truly defies imitation is the ability to use AI to connect the entire value chain—from R&D and manufacturing to supply, sales, and service. Changan Automobile’s efforts exemplify this transformative direction perfectly.”

The collaboration between Changan Automobile and Alibaba remains strong and fruitful. The Changan Tianzhu Navigation System already utilizes T-Head’s self-developed AI chips for model training, while the Tianzhu Smart Cockpit has smoothly integrated the Qwen large language model. Looking forward, both parties plan to deepen their partnership, jointly setting new benchmarks for intelligent transformation in China’s automotive industry and offering cutting-edge references for the Greater Bay Area and overseas Chinese-speaking markets.
