From Born Global to Fully Embracing AI
On August 25, at DingTalk’s 10th Anniversary and the AI ZhuanDing 1.0 New Product Launch Event, Shokz CIO Chen Xiangshuai delivered a keynote speech.
In his speech, he provided a detailed overview of Shokz Technology’s innovative journey—from a technology explorer to a global leader in bone conduction—and shared the company’s experience in collaborating with DingTalk to explore digital and intelligent transformation. Chen Xiangshuai emphasized that Shokz chose DingTalk because of its “pragmatic and responsive” nature. He noted that the two partners will continue to jointly explore a new organizational future that is “born global and grown by AI.”
Shokz Technology’s global journey began in 2012. At the brand’s inception, the company debuted at the International Consumer Electronics Show with a modest booth of less than ten square meters—and immediately caused a sensation with its bone conduction technology. During the exhibition, visitors lined up to experience the products, and Best Buy, a major U.S. retailer, sent representatives five times to discuss collaboration, ultimately leading to a deep strategic partnership. At the time, The Wall Street Journal placed this Chinese tech newcomer on its front page, propelling Shokz’s rapid rise in the North American market.
Today, Shokz has built a sales network covering more than 60 countries and regions worldwide, with a presence in over 28,000 offline stores. The company’s global cumulative sales have exceeded 18 million units. In the high-end sports headphone market in North America, Shokz firmly holds the industry’s top position, with overseas revenue accounting for more than two-thirds of total revenue. The company holds over 5,000 patents and has been awarded the National Invention Patent Gold Prize, solidifying its position as a global leader in bone conduction technology. From 2015 to 2022, the company’s business scale grew by a factor of 100 over seven years.
Facing the rollout of its global strategy and an exponential increase in business complexity, Shokz Technology launched a deep digital transformation in 2019. “Relying solely on our own resources is not enough—we need more professional and comprehensive partners, which is why we turned to DingTalk,” he said.
After hiring new employees, how can they quickly integrate into the organization and keep up with the pace of business? Traditional “senior employee mentoring” and training are clearly insufficient. To address this, Shokz built a knowledge map for each business department based on the DingTalk knowledge base, covering supply chain, R&D, HR, marketing, and other areas. This deep integration of knowledge and business enables “knowledge to find people,” reducing learning costs and greatly boosting employees’ willingness to learn proactively. At the same time, Shokz has created more than 800 corporate encyclopedia entries on DingTalk. When new employees see terms like “floating vibration damping technology” in chat groups, they can simply click to access an explanation page, allowing them to grasp the company’s business logic in fragmented time and get up to speed faster.
In terms of global collaboration, DingTalk Meeting AI’s real-time translation eliminates barriers to cross-border communication and automatically generates meeting minutes and action items, ensuring the efficient advancement of global projects.
Shokz has also engaged in an in-depth exploration of AI applications with DingTalk. Based on large language models and its internal knowledge base, Shokz rebuilt its “Shared Services Assistant,” replacing the previously rigid SaaS system with a more precise Q&A assistant. At the same time, leveraging DingTalk, Shokz developed over 700 AI agents to help business departments rapidly turn innovative ideas into reality. An AI customer service chatbot helps new customer service staff quickly reach a mature level of expertise, significantly improving customer satisfaction.
Chen Xiangshuai specifically pointed out: “The key to choosing DingTalk lies in its pragmatic approach and quick responsiveness.
