Founded in April 2011 and invested by Anhui Juhua Science and Education Investment Co., Ltd., Anhui Yangzi Vocational Technical College currently occupies approximately 1,100 mu of land, with a total building area of 400,000 square meters. The college has more than 13,000 full-time students and nearly 750 full-time faculty members, offering 33 vocational programs. Guided by the mission of serving local development, the college promotes educational and teaching reforms through industry-university cooperation and the integration of industry and education, innovating talent development models and continuously improving the quality of talent cultivation. It has received numerous honors, including being designated as a high-level skill-oriented university in Anhui Province, a demonstration school for industry-university cooperation in Anhui Province, a construction unit under Anhui's "Double High Plan," a cultivation unit for Anhui's "Dual Specialties" initiative, and a campus culture brand school under the Ministry of Education's "One School, One Product" program.

In the process of digital transformation in Chinese universities, three core challenges are prevalent: traditional management models heavily rely on manual decision-making, leading to low efficiency; fragmented systems and data silos result in high interdepartmental collaboration costs; and weak digital skills among faculty and students lead to insufficient human-machine integration. These issues are particularly pronounced in scenarios such as administrative management, teaching evaluation, and student services.

Through five years of practice, Yangzi College has built an integrated smart campus ecosystem using DingTalk as its digital foundation, successfully achieving digital transformation in core operations such as administrative management, teaching evaluation, student services, and talent development. With 14,000 faculty and students using DingTalk across the entire college, approval efficiency has significantly improved, paper document usage has plummeted, and the pain points of traditional manual processes in higher education have been completely eliminated, providing a replicable digital transformation model for the modernization of higher education.

Smart Administration: DingTalk Boosts Attendance Management Efficiency

The reform began with attendance. Previously, HR staff at Yangzi College had to spend significant time each month exporting attendance data from time clocks, compiling it into Excel spreadsheets, and manually processing the data for payroll calculations. If multiple campuses were involved, attendance tracking became even more cumbersome.

Now, smart attendance terminals are installed at the entrances of all teaching and administrative buildings. Faculty and students simply scan their faces or QR codes when entering or leaving, and the system automatically records their attendance data. The backend data is aggregated in real time on DingTalk's low-code platform, Yida, automatically generating visualized reports. The HR department no longer needs to check and reconcile spreadsheets page by page. What once took five working days to complete can now be finished in just two hours, greatly freeing up HR staff within the group.

Approval processes are also changing. In the past, Yangzi College handled a large volume of offline approval requests, such as leave requests and meeting room reservations, resulting in significant time waste. If the approver was unavailable, delays were inevitable.

Now, the college has successfully overcome the time and location constraints of paper-based approvals through DingTalk OA approvals. All leave requests, expense reimbursements, class schedule adjustments, and other processes are now fully digitized. No matter where they are, managers can handle approval tasks on their mobile phones at any time, turning mountains of pending documents and lengthy approval cycles into a thing of the past.

Currently, the college's thirteen secondary colleges have fully integrated into the smart approval network, enabling online collaboration and real-time feedback on business processes. In just six months, more than 14,000 faculty and students have become deeply embedded in the smart office ecosystem, and paper document usage has decreased by 90%.

Student Management: DingTalk Ensures Timely Monitoring of Student Well-being

To strengthen student safety management, the school has integrated Modian access control with DingTalk's low-code platform, Yida, to record students' daily entry and exit times from campus and perform validation checks. If a student fails to return to the dormitory at night, the system immediately notifies the responsible personnel for follow-up.

"In the past, we relied on roll calls and self-reported information from students. Sometimes students would say, 'I'm studying outside,' or 'I'm going home,' and there was no way for us to verify," a school teacher shared. Now, with the digital system built on low-code platforms, the exact times of students' entries and exits from the dormitory are clearly recorded. There is no longer any need to worry about students 'finding loopholes.' This system not only monitors students' return to the dormitory in real time but also uses watermark cameras to check whether all students are present in the dormitory. Analytical functions have even been added to monitoring points to ensure that students do not enter or exit the dormitory in an unconventional manner."

The school has also used DingTalk Yida to create a "Student Profile System" for each student, featuring a digital student file that includes multi-dimensional data such as personal information management and psychological assessments. The application specifically includes a mental health tracking module, allowing counselors to clearly understand students' physical and mental states. For special groups, "Mental Health Guardian" care teams have been established, and through regular updates of psychological growth profiles and personalized intervention plans, a full-cycle mental health support network based on "prevention-monitoring-intervention" has been created.

Industry-Education Integration: DingTalk Enhances Workplace Competitiveness

The digital transformation of the school requires not only tools but also the cultivation of digital talents who master these new tools. With the arrival of the AI era, Yangzi College has partnered with DingTalk to pioneer a new talent development model called "AI Industry Academy+." Leveraging DingTalk's platform capabilities and curriculum system, the school has innovatively launched a micro-major course in "AI Smart Office," creating a three-in-one teaching system that combines theory, practice, and certification.

In April 2024, the first cohort of 70 students entered the "Digital Micro-Major" classroom. The curriculum is closely aligned with market demands, covering six practical courses, including digital management, low-code development, and data integration. In the classroom, corporate mentors and college instructors co-teach, and students learn how to build applications and analyze data using low-code platforms in real-world business scenarios.

Textbook development is progressing in parallel. Yangzi College has partnered with DingTalk to successfully apply for a provincial-level high-quality textbook project. A digital management textbook aimed at higher vocational colleges is currently being written and will serve as a reference for higher vocational institutions across the province and even the entire country in the future.

Through this "education-industry" double-helix structure, the college is focusing on cultivating versatile talents who possess both digital literacy and cross-disciplinary integration capabilities, providing a new generation of "digital artisans" to drive high-quality economic development in the region.

By constructing a three-dimensional education matrix of "technology empowerment, humanistic care, and industry linkage," Anhui Yangzi Vocational Technical College has not only achieved digital transformation in educational settings but has also completed a paradigm shift in talent development goals—from "knowledge transmission" to "capability building." This practice of deeply integrating educational ideals with technological innovation is providing a replicable model of innovation for the high-quality development of higher vocational education.

In the future, Yangzi College will continue to explore educational innovations in the AI era, providing continuous momentum for cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents for the future.
